Every month is beautiful on Ibiza, but February has something special. At this time of the year all the almond trees are in bloom. The pink and white flowers appear to flicker in the sunshine, walking true these trees is a highlight for a lot of people on the island.
After California, Spain is the worlds second biggest producer of almonds. In the nineteenth century until the sixties the almond production on Ibiza was a source of income for a lot of family’s on the island.
The boost in tourism has led to the fact that many locals left the traditional way of life, this has caused a collapse in the almond production. However, the trees are still standing, meaning we can enjoy these beautiful flowering trees.
