New concept at Vino & Co

We have known Vino and Co for years. It is a wine bar with a stylish liquor store in Can Bellotera, on the way to Sant Josep. Founded by Jeroen and Rosa Hamersma in 2009.

Also known for organising the New Year’s dive on the beach of Las Salinas.

Through the years, Vino & Co has become a household name in Ibiza. We, as “all year round” Ibiza residents, go there every winter on Tuesdays and/or Fridays to socialise with a good glass of wine and to enjoy a small menu with snacks.

You can choose from 25 different open wines that are served by the glass but you can also pick each bottle from the shelves of the liquor store. You then pay the retail price plus 10 euro corkage. A great concept if you are having drinks with friends and share a bottle, because you get to know more and more beautiful wines.

On the shelves there is a selection of about 300 different wines, so it is a mecca for wine lovers.

In addition, you can drink traditional craft beers and Vino & Co has the largest selection of sake on the island. Daughter Rosa graduated with honours as a Sake Sommelier.

But since summer 2018 the Vino & Co team has a new employee, Rodney Limoen, with years of experience as a master and private chef on Ibiza. During the day the wine store is open as usual, but from 17:00 hours you can also dine there! There is an extensive menu with delicious dishes, about the same size as a starter in a normal restaurant, there is plenty to share.

There were four of us and we chose the following six dishes:

Oysters from Don Ostra;

chiperones (small squid) with a baked potato and parsley garlic dressing;

foie gras with apple and red chutney in a Cognac sauce;

humus with beetroot, sweet potato and balsamic vinegar;

smoked salmon with creme fraiche and herring roe;

… and, for dessert, pear with Roquefort, sliced ham and balsamic vinegar with a glass of sake.

Our “food experience” with perfectly matching wines and sake lasted three pleasant hours and gave us a satisfied feeling. Add a colourful group of locals who joined the table, always in for a good conversation or sharing a bottle or dish and your evening at Vino & Co cannot go wrong!
